Hi, I’m Dr. Sai Sharath Vejella, an upcoming specialist in Oral Medicine and a current resident at the University of Pennsylvania, Penn Dental Medicine. My passion is helping people who experience persistent oral and facial symptoms that don’t always have straightforward answers.
My journey into Oral Medicine began with a simple but powerful realization: the mouth is more than just teeth and gums—it’s a mirror of systemic health, a source of chronic pain for many, and often the first place where deeper medical issues reveal themselves. I chose this specialty because I wanted to be the kind of clinician who listens beyond the surface, who connects the dots when others couldn’t, and who brings clarity to patients who’ve felt unheard.
What drives me is the human story behind each symptom. I believe that every patient’s mouth tells a story, and my role is to listen carefully, ask the right questions, and guide them toward answers and relief. I don’t rush through appointments. I take time. I investigate. I collaborate. And I care deeply.

Your first visit with me is about understanding the whole picture. I’ll take a complete oral and medical history, review your medications, and perform a detailed clinical exam. Depending on your needs, I may recommend diagnostic imaging, laboratory tests, or collaboration with medical colleagues.
From there, we’ll design a care plan tailored to you. My focus is on practical, sustainable solutions- from symptom relief and oral appliances to medical management and long-term monitoring.
You’ll leave with a plan, not just a prescription- and the reassurance that your concerns are valid and taken seriously.
• Persistent mouth ulcers, burning, or tingling
• Jaw pain, facial discomfort, or clenching-related headaches
